Since Aeroplane just passed the 10,000 fans mark on facebook the newly solo Vito Aeroplane decided to give away this prize of a remix/mash-hit that mixes Flight Facilities‘ corker ‘Crave You‘ with Aeroplane + Au Revoir Simone‘s own take on Friendly Fires‘ ‘Paris‘.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs

Monday, June 28th, 2010

I’ve been meaning to do a post on ‘Garden’ by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (or T.E.E.D. as they’re also known) for a while but forgot and only remembered when I noticed they’d uploaded the video for it today on Facebook. Support has been mostly from Annie Mac and the Radio 1 massif.

Two-Way Mirror

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

What Kind Of Breeze Do You Blow? = “Idiosyncratic electronic jungle-disco re-orchestration, a robotic re-interpretation of a mirage.”

Optimus Prime = “Pulsating mechanical club-ready synth strutter for the cosmic dancefloors.”

You Wanted A Hit

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

Downright filthy Soulwax remix x original ÷ track from new-to-my-ears Throwing Snow featured on Subeena’s Fact Magazine Mix 117 = come-up and come-down all in one blog post! I think my photo is also a good visual representation of this dichotomy. Fuck off me.

Tumbling Dice

Friday, June 18th, 2010

“Always in a hurry, I never stop to worry,
Don’t you see the time flashin’ by.
Honey, got no money,
I’m all sixes and sevens and nines.
Say now, baby, I’m the rank outsider,
You can be my partner in crime.

But baby, I can’t stay,
You got to roll me and call me the tumblin’,
Roll me and call me the tumblin’ dice.”

Going Back To My Roots

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

*UPDATE* This came in the ol’ mailbox ( :  legends.

So little time to do anything these days. Like I don’t even have time to think. I feel like butter being scraped across too much bread*. Time management – that’s my problem.

Anyway (whine over!), the 4 tracks I have selected for you today are all excellent. First up, a little 1min30sec gem from Waajeed that I can’t remember how I found. Next is Motown songwriting legend Lamont Dozier and the epic 10-min version of his funky classic “Going Back To My Roots”. Finally, I’d like to introduce you to Pedestrian…. a word his music is definitely not! Currently based in Cambridge, UK he makes gorgeous ambient electronica and was recently featured on Gilles Peterson’s radio 1 show. Without doubt one to watch. Now if we could only get Pedestrian and Gang Colours to collaborate…

Disco? It Will Never Die

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Friend of the blog Polymath cooks up another batch of deeelicious dance music. Keep pumping them out son and I’ll keep listening!

Breakfast Of Champions have made the first Neon Indian remix that’s actually worth a damn. Their original stuff is similarly great.

Lastly, but by no means leastly, friend of the blog number two, LS Mitchell, has created a fantasticly professional wee 40-min mix that he sent this way. Seriously, this mix sounds like an ace night out at the Cabaret Voltaire for me! I’d be winding down to bed usually by now but this mix has me doing the feet-tap, head-bob skank!
