I’ve had this U’s & I’s and Lullabies mixtape on repeat all day. I’m really impressed. Primary 1 is Joe Flory, a 24-yr olf half-Norweigan signed to Erol Alkan‘s Phantasy Sound label. It’s all amazing but I have highlighted my favourites. The Aphex Twin/Zombies mix is fucking inspired.

OK here’s the story. I’d been listening to Bibio a LOT a couple of weeks ago and noticed a couple of tracks on his new album would sound great mashed up à la The Hood Internet stylee. I was so sure it’d sound good I dared to send them an email (on July 11th) with this request.

I was perusing the RAKETA blog (well, as much perusing you can do when you can’t read Russian) and found this really great summer mix from a Russian group called 7he Myriads. I know what you’re thinking. I love the use of 7 instead of a T as well. Aaanyway, was deciphering the tracklist and trying to work out what I was listening to and found this band called Cassette Club (the song in the mix was ‘Living In A Video‘). Decided to check them out for myself (hi google) and discovered that they’ve had literally no blog coverage. WTF!? Songs this good should not go unheard. Well fret no longer my love, help has arrived in the form of a 23-yr old Scotsman. Whodathunk eh?

I’m waking up to a lot of goodies in my inbox recently! Love it! Especially when they’re as good as this Fred Falke remix of Miami Horror‘s ‘Make You Mine’.
Received a very friendly email from Edinburgh-based (WOOHOO!) Hostage about the summer mix he’s put together. I think Noise Porn said it best…
“This has to be one of the best mixes i have heard in a very long time (*currently chair dancing as i write this) because it contains a perfect balance of big club bangers and lesser known gems. Everything about it is well thought out and tastefully done (including somewhat less well known tracks makes for an educating and interesting listen). This is a great representation of what any Hostage set would be like- absolutely banging!!!”
The internet is a fast moving beast, so the streaming MP3s that are posted may not work after a while due to them being taken down.
