It’s called ‘Astrocoast’ and it’s by a band called Surfer Blood. Reminds me of both the Shins (the voice) and the Whigs (the rest). Agree?

Discovered L S Mitchell on the Erol Alkan Forums. He’s a young man from Jersey and I really like the remixes he’s given me to post. The first is a remix of Gucci Vump and you can’t really go wrong remixing this song [see HERE]. The second is an absolutely awesome remix of Nero‘s ‘Act Like You Know’. Turns the clubbasaurus D&B original into a early morning chillout jam.

Atlas Sound‘s album is fantastic – this is a standout along with that one with Noah Lennox from Animal Collective.

Javelin have once again come up trumps with this dirty little switcheroo.

I just like this HEALTH remix – do I need a reason?

I’m telling you now, your new favourite artist is Javelin. They’re certainly mine. Feel like I’m beating a dead horse here but their album ‘Jamz N Jemz‘ is brilliant – one of my favourites released this year. If you’re wondering who they sound like, I’d pitch them as a mix of the crate-digging Avalanches plus the Sesame Street/childhood nostalgia of Go! Team and the summery warmth of Neon Indian. If you’re a fan of any of those 3, you’ll LOVE Javelin.

If you haven’t seen Miles Fisher by now then WTFF (thats fucking fuck) have you been?! He not only pulled off a fucker of a Tom Cruise impression, but then went and topped it with this hilarious Christian Bale/Talking Heads tribute. Can you tell I love a good impressionist? Aaanyway, the good looking fucker that he is also sings and writes music. The song I’ve posted is actually great and I got a shock. Reminds me of Brendan Benson‘s solo work actually – which is a very very good thing. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves – apparently he’s gonna be appearing in the new season of Mad Men. Let’s see if he tops Don Draper in the cool stakes.
