Heard Annie Mac play this Jakwob remix on her radio show ages ago and, at the time, thought “Yeah, I quite like that”. Then she kept playing it every week, and the more I hear it, the more it eats into my hippocampus. It was also Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Record In The World‘ in last month. Highly recommended.
Joy Orbison is on FIRE – another great number. The Fader said it best – “Oh shit we just got pregnant in the club… with someone we have feelings for.” Ripped this awesome Flight Facilities track from Aeroplane’s great new December Mix. Can’t wait to see Aeroplane at NYE!

CanNOT stop playing the opening track from Beach House’s new album ‘Teen Dream‘. Finally, Richmanu has reworked Delphic’s ‘Doubt‘ and transmogrified it into a club banger. You should vote for it to win the remix competition here.
Saw Jack Beats on Friday there and they (or should I say he – it was one guy, I thought Jack Beats were two people???) tore the fucking roof off the Cabaret Voltaire. Was rammed and sweaty and pushy but the beats were glorious. The one that I lost my shit for was SonicC. I’d never heard it before but it completely blew my mind. So after ID-ing the track (thanks Erol Alkan Forum) I’ve played it to death. I also love Kissy’s version which is a lot more playful.
When Jack Beats “dropped the bassline” the place went mental – I think I got about 4 elbows to the windpipe. The last two tracks I’m posting are just big bangers that deserve to be played at full volume. First is RipTidE who I’ve posted about before – his track Fk Me is huge and sexy and kinda sounds like Santa farting and you should download it immediately. Second is the excellent Para One remix of Boys Noize which I’d only first heard a couple of days ago.
I ♥Lady Gaga. There, I said it. Totally avoided her for ages but about a month ago when I heard ‘Bad Romance‘ I had to hear more. Very talented lady. Anyway, here’s Grum’s ace remix – much better than the Hercules & Love Affair remix in my opinion. Thanks to Futuristic Silence for this gem of a Gonzales remix. Saxy. Finally is the Joakim remix of Friendly Fires which stood out when I first heard Annie Mac play it a few weeks ago.
Only good red eyes, red suits, and faces will radiate
And the cold will hide its face
Now the cold is turned away
We can be best friends with the people we hate
‘Cause we’ve all got blood
And it’s warmer than you think
Yeah it is warm and it is thick (Via) ←♥♥♥♥♥♥ i want to know her
Discovered L S Mitchell on the Erol Alkan Forums. He’s a young man from Jersey and I really like the remixes he’s given me to post. The first is a remix of Gucci Vump and you can’t really go wrong remixing this song [see HERE]. The second is an absolutely awesome remix of Nero’s ‘Act Like You Know’. Turns the clubbasaurus D&B original into a early morning chillout jam.
Palermo Disko Machine. I’d never heard of them until they were featured in both Aeroplane’s November Mix and on Erol Alkan’s 6music show yesterday. Vesuvia is by far one of the best songs I’ve heard this year. Highlight: when the bass kicks back in at 2.34 and takes the song by the braces for a dance. Definitely one for fans of Classixx, Aeroplane etc. Thanks to Monday Music Update for this one.
Confession time – I tweeted TooManySebastians, NashvilleNights and StoneyRoads the other day about how they were gonna LOVE the Cagedbaby remix of Don Diablo in Aeroplane’s November mix. Now as good as that remix is, I didn’t actually mean that one. I got confused with the tracklisting. What I REALLY meant was that they were gonna LOVE the MiGHty mOUsE remix of Detachments. Poor me. See what you think.
Finally, heard this on Erol Alkan’s 6music show last night and it stood out right away. It’s Joe Goddard from Hot Chip and he’s being remixed by my BFF Four Tet. Have to say, anything with Four Tet’s name attached recently (be it Love Cry or his remixes for others) is nothing less than stellar. Can’t wait for his album (There Is Love In You) to land next year.
Saw Steve Aoki on Friday just there. I was absolutely hammered and therefore dancing like an absolute gimp on the dance-floor. He played a really good set and did about 150 stage dives – love it, wish more DJs would do that. And yes he played Warp 1.9 and yes it was amazing. I shook his hand at the end for being a legend.
No Steve Aoki songs but Dim Mak-related material so stop complaining. Plus I ♥The Bloody Beetroots. Their Groove Armada remix is one of my favourite this year – I bet in the live environment it’s fucking euphoric. The Timbaland remix packs a big punch too.
Radio discoveries next. Kissy Sell Out played this Lucky Dip remix the other day and it stood out right away as one of the best ones he played – it actually made me smile when I first heard it. Takes a while to get into (~1min before it stutters in) but is a really playful remix and it’s worth the wait. Heard this Felix Da Housecat remix on Alex Metric’s Radio 1 show and same again, it stood out from the pack so I’ve ripped it for your pleasure. Finally, this Jaymo & Andy George (another Radio 1 staple) remix is fantastic. Exactly what I want from a remix.
The internet is a fast moving beast, so the streaming MP3s that are posted may not work after a while due to them being taken down. And since I can't be arsed uploading them all again it's tough shite. I'll always post a link to a downloadable MP3 though. As always, if you like what you hear - away and buy it eh!
p.s. if I've put up a song you'd rather not see here then let me know, you can email me here
